Porini Safari Camps

AMBOSELI, LAIKIPIA, MARA, OL PEJETA

The Porini Safari Camps offer visitors the experience of staying in small, high quality safari camps located in exclusive wildlife conservancies in some of the finest big game areas in Africa. Here you will escape from the crowds and experience the African wilderness without the presence of other tourist vehicles and with the personal attention of qualified safari guides.

The Porini Safari Camps are small and exclusive with no more than 10 guest tents so that you will have just a few other like-minded people as company.

  • PORINI AMBOSELI CAMP is an exclusive bush camp of 9 guest tents in the Selenkay Conservancy, a private reserve beside Amboseli National Park in unspoilt wilderness and well off the beaten track. We operate a daily road transfer from Nairobi which normally takes just over 3 hours for the 100 mile journey. Alternatively we operate departures daily by air into Amboseli airfield.
  • PORINI MARA CAMP is set up on similar lines with 6 tents and is in the first private conservancy in the Mara eco-system at Ol Kinyei. We operate departures twice daily by air from Nairobi – a 45 minute flight.
  • PORINI LION CAMP is located in the exclusive 33,000 acre Olare Motorogi Conservancy which borders the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The Camp is situated along the Ntiakatiak River and consists of 10 luxury guest tents. We can arrange morning and afternoon flights from Nairobi.
  • PORINI RHINO CAMP the newest Camp, opened July 2007 with six tents, (now upgraded to seven tents) located in the 90,000 acre Ol Pejeta Conservancy near Mt Kenya. All of the Big 5 are found here and this is the largest Black Rhino sanctuary in East Africa! We offer daily departures by air from Nairobi to nearby Nanyuki airfield.

All the Porini camps are run on environmentally sound principles, specially designed to have minimum impact, with no permanent structures, using solar power for electricity and heating water with special eco-friendly sustainable charcoal briquettes.

In Amboseli and Mara, the conservancies are owned by the local Maasai communities and the camps are operated and managed with the objective of creating income and providing benefits for the local people so that they can gain from participating in tourism.

Game drives from the Porini Camps are in open-sided 4x4 safari vehicles, with expert safari guides, for the best wildlife safari viewing.
